Universal Accounting Center Course Overview
Our in-class and computerized accounting and bookkeeping courses are designed for anyone wanting to increase their income, either through getting a better job or through opening their own bookkeeping service. Through taking our courses, students will learn the methods of full-charge (taking the accounting process from data entry through preparation of financial statements) bookkeeping, while gaining the ability to establish and keep accounting books through manual and computer methods.
Through taking one of our courses, you will learn:
¨ How to use double entry debit/credit bookkeeping using journals, subsidiary ledgers and the final general ledger closing;
¨ How to make original and final entries, posting to journals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and customer statements.
¨ How to create complete accounting and bookkeeping systems, through both manual and computer methods, including financial reports that contain balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and customer billings.
¨ How to enter and develop a career that potentially pays you higher earnings, due to the training you have received and the new skills you gained in full-charge accounting.
What Makes Our Courses Outstanding?
Each Universal course was designed with the adult student in mind students who may already have a full-time job, but may not have the time to devote toward full-time education or training. Our courses are focused on and emphasize the practical, day-to-day issues that face small businesses, while delivering content and instruction in a short amount of time. Each class is taught by practicing accountants who provide free opportunities for further advice and career help for each graduate.
Our decades of experience in teaching accounting and bookkeeping classes have given thousands of individuals like you the opportunity to further their careers and gain the necessary job skills to succeed.
For example, our small business accounting and bookkeeping course gives you a wide array of knowledge about double-entry bookkeeping in just 48 hours of classroom instruction, which only takes four weeks of your time needed to graduate. While taking the class, you will have the opportunity to complete the full set of books for several small businesses across a number of industries. During the course, you learn how to use both cash and accrual bookkeeping systems, while learning to complete accounts receivable, accounts payable, payrolls, and monthly financial statements.
What Materials/Equipment Will Be Provided?
Upon registration, students are provided with workbooks, calculators, and other classroom materials necessary to complete the course. If you are taking a distance-learning course, the appropriate instructional videos or DVDs will be provided as well.
What Happens After I Graduate?
Upon graduation or completing a course, you will be provided with a Graduation Certificate for each course or field of study completed, plus we will provide you with a Letter of Recommendation regarding the skills you have learned. You will also have access to Universal’s instructors for further advice and consultation.
Why Take a Class from Universal?
In today’s job market, there is an increased demand for employees who have the ability to do full-charge accounting and bookkeeping, both manually and through use of a computer.
In addition to our accounting training, we provide optional courses that teach you how to use the various software packages found in the accounting profession. Each class is designed to give you a hands-on experience in using these programs to further develop your accounting skills.
We also offer an income tax preparation class at the latter part of the year. This class prepares accounting students for the increased demand for qualified tax preparation specialists needed by small businesses at year’s end.
In addition to our in-class courses, we also offer accounting and bookkeeping courses via VHS videotapes and DVD. These courses contain the same information as our in-class lectures and use similar workbook materials, but they are geared toward students who want more flexibility in their schedules.
